Where does The Elf on the Shelf come from? Our kids in 5th have just discovered that The Elf on the Shelf comes from a 2005 children’s book written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell. They learnt that, according to the story, Santa sends little elves to visit homes and keep an eye on children during the Christmas season.
